Today, we're going to help you how the hell you are going to entertain yourselves/visitors/friends by planning the ultimate itineraries for entertaining family or friends visiting Riyadh. Whether you have a weekend or a full week, Riyadh's rich culture and thrilling adventures won't disappoint. Yes, the traffic and driving is crazy and there are times of the year that mean you can't go out for fear of boiling alive but don't let that stop you.
We have had visitors come in August, September and October. We have done various combinations of what I have listed below in the heat of the summer. The ideal times of year to be a tourist in this amazing country is between October and February. March and April its getting warmer and Ramadan time so normal opening hours do not apply which makes it harder to plan, not impossible, just more unpredictable.
Take drinks with you and plan where you are going to eat/take breaks especially if it is hot - you need to get a car even if distances look very short on the map. If you don't plan then you might find yourself left with the local McDonald's or fast food joint. Heaven for some...hell for others.
Riyadh is not a walking city sadly but in some places there are beautiful wide boulevards with cycle tracks; for those geographers out there this is an interesting read that explains why Riyadh is a car city and what is with all the urban sprawl. https://agsiw.org/transforming-riyadh-a-new-urban-paradigm/
